  • How is Dream Makers different from other character companies?
    At Dream Makers Character Experiences, we pride ourselves in providing the highest quality characters, activities, and entertainment for our clients. We provide a truly interactive experience that your guests will remember for years to come! As Dream Makers, we work to foster children's imagination and demonstrate what it means to be a true princess or hero in your daily life. Learn more about our ethics here. Our performers are the best around, all with backgrounds in singing, dancing, and theatre, as well as working with children. Anyone can put on a dress and a wig, but it takes a true performer to create a magical party! We are committed to reliability: from the moment you contact up until after your party, we are here if you have any questions or need help with the booking process.
  • Who is behind Dream Makers?
    Hello, my name is Mary-Jean and I am the Fairy Godmother of Dream Makers! The company began as Fairytale Princess Parties in 2015, and I took over as the owner in October of 2018, before which I was working my dream job as a princess performer. I dedicate my all to making this wonderful business a magical experience for our clients and performers! I have a Master’s degree in theoretical physics and an undergraduate degree in physics and philosophy, which has given me skills and attention to detail that help create a reliable and truly magical company. I am also a tutor for children of all ages and a published author.
  • How do I book?
    1. Please contact us to confirm your date and time availability. You can either call 613-899-1901 or email us at booking@ottawaprincessparties.com. 2. Once we have confirmed availability with you, we require a non-refundable deposit of $100+tax to book and secure your date for our party packages. You may also choose to pay the full balance of your party upon booking. Our deposit is non-refundable, but fully transferrable to another date if there is a need to reschedule! Our driveway visits, video calls, and special visits must be paid in full upon booking, however, if there is a need to reschedule, the payment is fully transferrable to another date. 3. During the checkout process, you will be required to fill in a form with your party details. Payment can be made with a credit card or via PayPal. If would prefer to make your credit card payment over the phone, please call 613-899-1901. 4. Once we have received your payment, we will send you an email confirming that you are all booked! 5. If you have paid only the deposit, your remaining balance is due by the date of your party, and can be paid through our online booking system again or over the phone. 6. Sit back and enjoy your magical party!
  • When should I book my party?
    As far in advance as possible. We recommend at least a month, especially for the more popular characters such as the Snow Queen, although we can also accommodate last minute party bookings: just contact us!
  • What ages are the parties appropriate for?
    Our princess parties are perfect for girls aged 3-8 years old: these are the prime ‘princess years'. We recommend our 30 min Enchanted Package for younger princesses under the age of 3. For children over the age of 8, we recommend parties with our superheroes, wizard students, Barbie, Monster High girls, or our superstar girl!
  • Do you do parties in French?
    Oui, nous offrons aussi des princesses et heroes bilingue! You can specify on the booking form that you would like a French performer for the party, and the party can be in both languages or just English or French (just please let us know ahead of time!). However, as our Fairy Godmother only speaks English, all communication about the party will be in English.
  • Can we tip the performer?
    Yes, of course! Tips are always appreciated by our performers, but never expected. We just ask you place the tip in an envelope and give it to the performer out of sight of the children, so as not to ruin the magic.
  • What can I do to make sure the day goes as smoothly as possible?
    These are a few things that always help! 1. Make sure you have enough room for all the activities. A living room with the coffee table moved out of the way is generally the perfect place to have a party, or a playroom. The performers needs a chair to sit in, and they bring everything else! 2. Try to get the kids ready and get them together right before the character arrives, so they can begin the activities with the children right away. 3. Arrange for the eating time to be either before or after the character visit (if food comes at the same time the princess arrives, the two conflict). We always recommend serving the cake about 5 minutes before the character leaves to ensure a seamless exit, so make sure you have your cake ready, and all the guests out of their costumes and gathered around the table! 4. Have your cameras ready throughout the party: you don't want to miss special moments of your children with our characters! Check out this article for more tips on having the best princess party.
  • Can we have our party outside?
    Yes, but if you are planning an outside party, make sure the area is guarded from heat/sun, or from any wet weather. Have a clean, dry, shaded area for activities, free of dirt, mud, water, and any other bad weather conditions that may cause an ill effect to the party activities and the guests.
  • Do you have insurance?
    Yes, of course! We take our business very seriously and are covered for $2,000,000 liability insurance. On that note, however, we have never had an accident during any of our parties or events since its founding in 2015!
